The Holy Quran - Surah 65 - verses 10 & 11

…Allah has indeed revealed to you a reminder, (10) An Apostle who recites to you the clear communications of Allah so that he may bring forth those who believe and do good deeds from darkness into light… (11(Surah 65)

Since its inception in 2005, Australian MADE (Muslim Adolescent Development & Education) Inc has been providing services for our youth and children.  The Dhikr Program is a culmination of our collective experience, research and feedback received over the past years.  We think it’s what you’ve been waiting for!

Program Details:

The Dhikr Program is a 24 week program that includes 4 days of intensive Islamic workshops in English; 8 days of intensive Qur’anic Arabic workshops;  and 3 days of Faith-Fun-Friendship days.

  • During Qur’anic Arabic the participants will heavily focus on their comprehension and reading of the Quran. This includes studying the vocabulary of the Qur’an; the structure of sentences, root words and their conjugates, tajweed, and grammar – depending on the language level of the participant.  Participants need to undergo an assessment for language and qur’an recitation prior to commencement of the Program.
  • Faith-Fun-Friendship This is a special program for Ihsan (high school level) in terms 3 and 4. For boys, we have soccer with hajj Ahmed and hajj Mohammed. For girls, we have social activities focusing on community work, health and friendship.
  • Soccer and social activity This is a special program for Ihsan (high school level in terms 3 and 4). For boys, we have soccer with hajj Ahmed and hajj Mohammed. For girls, we have social activities in term 3 and 4 focusing on community work, health and friendship.
  • In Islamic Workshops, we base our activities on the Reflect-Revert-Revive principal as follows:

Triple R learning methodology

Reflect:

Our program creates a safe, thought provoking space for participants to reflect within.  We discuss the struggles that we face as Muslims within society, at school, with our friends and inside our hearts.  We look at ways to gain strength from within and from those around us, building confidence in our Islamic identity.

Revert:

The Program this year has a heavy emphasis on the ways of our Imams (PBUT).

Revive:

This is the final and crucial step as participants work towards reviving the Sunna within their own lives and opening the doors of barakah.  This involves undertaking weekly challenges that interrupts their daily routine with the aim of perfecting their actions.  Weekly challenges include:

  • Having a Sunnah picnic, eating Sunnah food in the way our Prophet and Imams used to eat. Alhamdullilah, let’s lick those fingers;
  • Walkathon; walking like the Prophet for a cause. Don’t forget to be a step behind your dad!
  • Answering questions about Islam to random strangers. Just need to get over those nerves
  • Mentoring younger children;
  • Doing acts of kindness to neighbours, strangers and people in need;
  • Playing soccer with the Sunnah in mind – that’s a challenging one!
  • And much more…

We use a safe virtual space for kids to keep in touch with their peers and mentors outside the program during the week.

How do we do it?

We teach our participants to have a Growth Mindset  We help them to find the tools to be positive

learners. This entails experiencing different situations and allowing the participants to challenge themselves and reflect and learn from those experiences, dealing effectively with fears, doubts and expectations. This approach will provide them with the skills, belief and mindset that they can apply to every aspect of their lives, insha’Allah.
