The Holy Quran - Surah 65 - verses 10 & 11

…Allah has indeed revealed to you a reminder, (10) An Apostle who recites to you the clear communications of Allah so that he may bring forth those who believe and do good deeds from darkness into light… (11(Surah 65)

Since its inception in 2005, Australian MADE (Muslim Adolescent Development & Education) Inc has been providing services for our youth and children.  The Dhikr Program is a culmination of our collective experience, research and feedback received over the past years.

Program Details:

Dhikr Program is a 27 week Islamic and Qur’anic based workshop including 3 Faith-Fun-friendship days.

One half of every year, we have additional segments for high school children: soccer for the boys, and social activities focusing on community work, health and friendship for girls.

  • During Qur’anic Arabic the participants will heavily focus on their comprehension and reading of the Quran. This includes studying the vocabulary of the Qur’an; the structure of sentences, root words and their conjugates, tajweed, and grammar – depending on the language level of the participant.  Participants need to undergo an assessment for language and qur’an recitation prior to commencement of the Program.
  • Faith-Fun-Friendship These days are a great opportunity for students to bond, connect with their peers and share positive experiences together.
  • Soccer and social activity In terms 3 and 4, we have additional segments for high school children: soccer for the boys with Hajj Ahmed and Hajj Mohammed, and social activities focusing on community work, health and friendship for girls.
  • In Islamic Workshops, we base our activities on the Reflect-Revert-Revive principle as follows:

Reflect – Revert – Revive learning methodology

Reflect:

Our Program creates a safe, thought-provoking space for participants to reflect within. We invite participants to ask questions and develop their critical-thinking skills. The learning is inquiry-based through investigation, analysis and problem-solving. The program is designed to encourage participants to self-reflect and build self-awareness, empathy and life skills. We look at ways to gain strength from within and from those around us, developing confidence in our Islamic identity.
Each year we reflect upon a specific focus or theme. For example, in the past we have reflected on Ihsan, Barakah, Qur’anic Miracles, Prophethood, Science and Islam, Environmental Responsibility. This focus on a theme allows us to address areas which need self-improvement and growth, achieving a realistic opportunity for positive change.

Revert:

To help in our reflection, the Program allows an opportunity for participants to explore historical and modern role models. Together, we rediscover the Qur’an and what Allah (SWT) teaches us about our responsibilities, the examplars He provides us with, and the elements which lead them to become heroes. We look at modern day achievers and how they face challenges in their fields. Comparative analysis, critical thinking, Growth Mindset and self-confidence are all tools which help participants to recognise pathways for self-improvement and growth.

Revive:

This is the final and crucial step as participants work towards their personal development, and reviving their inner strength and faith. Our Mentors develop suitable challenges which scaffold and support participants in their learning. We focus on the Islamic teaching of self-forgiveness, hope in the Mercy of Allah (SWT) and the desire to do good, all of which are elements reflecting the Growth Mindset. Essentially, the atmosphere of mentorship, positivity, friendship and community provide an excellent supportive environment for participants to achieve, create long-term friendships and gain confidence to become the best version of themselves.

How do we do it?

We teach our participants to have a Growth Mindset  We help them to find the tools to be positive

learners. This entails experiencing different situations and allowing the participants to challenge themselves and reflect and learn from those experiences, dealing effectively with fears, doubts and expectations. This approach will provide them with the skills, belief and mindset that they can apply to every aspect of their lives, insha’Allah.
